If you would like to stay overnight in your motor home, you are welcome to do so. There is space for a few motor homes along the back edge of the parking lot at South Oaks Baptist Church. This is a most polite accommodation by South Oaks Baptist Church, so if you plan to stay in your motor home, we ask that you please be very considerate of the church property (and the neighboring homes) and leave the grounds in a clean and orderly condition when you leave. There are NO hookups of any kind – just a parking area.

Yes, but only with the permission of each individual instructor, and then only in a non-disruptive manner.
Are children allowed?
Yes. Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian is not required to attend class with the student but needs to be present to drop off and pick their child each day. Children under 12 may be admitted on a case by case basis. Children, or any camper for that matter, must be well behaved and not disrupt classes or jams.
I registered for guitar – can I attend other classes?
Yes, but within limits. We want to keep class sizes fairly small so everyone can get personal attention from the instructors. When you register for a class you have a reserved space in that class. If you want to sit in on other classes you may do so if the other class not too crowded and the instructor doesn't object.
Is there jamming?
Yes! The building will be kept open after hours for jamming. You will see some of the teachers out picking with the students each evening too.

Yes, call my cell phone at: 214-236-0783
How do I know what level I am?
Levels are self-selected by each student using the guidelines below.
Beginner Level: You can be brand new to the instrument but it helps if you know a few basic open chords and can change chords fairly easily. Being able to read tablature and/or written music is helpful but not required. The ability to tune your instrument know which string is which is helpful. Having one or more tunes you can play all the way through at a slow tempo would be great.
Intermediate Level: All Beginner level skills, plus the student should be able to play several tunes from memory, easily change chords, know some scales and be able to get a good sound from their instrument. Understanding how to use a capo and some knowledge of playing in different keys is a plus.
Advanced Level: All the above skills plus the ability to play many tunes at band tempos and some ability to improvise solos. Some understanding of music and chord theory is helpful plus the ability to learn tunes by ear. You should be able to play with your head out of your instrument and be aware of the players around you so you are able to provide the support and the give and take that makes playing music an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
